The main activity in Vespella is the agriculture, although only the 20% of the township fields are cultivable lands. The rest of the township is formed by grazing fields, the "garriga" (scrub), and the woods. The most important crops are the vineyard, the olive, hazel and the carob trees, and the cereals. The vegetation is the typical Mediterranean vegetation, and the lands are unirrigated lands, Vespella de Gaià is a good promoter of the ecological industries within its township. It encourages the installation of all the industries that use the natural energetic resources and the use of materials that used to be important in the industries, but that are not anymore in them. We have the first industry in the country that reuses the elements that constitute a cable (any type of cables). This industry is the Triturats de Cables de Gaià S.A. that belongs to the Zambrano brothers. The industry that belongs to Pere Maria Sanromà, Perforacions Sanromà, F i M., S.L., extracts water from unbelievable places. The expert in oceans Roland W. Mattheissen directs the Institut Oceanogràfic del Mediterrani, that is nine Km. from the coast. There is a bakery that supplies the bread for the whole county, called the Fleca J.A. Sevilla; S.L. Josep Font is a craftsman lathes the wood. We have made a reference to the construction firms (as Bargalló, Doblado and Parra), the cattle-breeding exploitation (as Mas d'en Mestre S.A.T.), and the restaurants. Some of them are opened all the year (as the Bar-Restaurant del Casal and the Bar-Restaurant Sant Miquel), and some of them are only opened in some seasons (as the Restaurant Mas d'Enric, S.L.). There is nowadays a restaurant that is looking for a new owner that brings it back to the activity that it used to have.
